said, he is a HUGH fan (hah) Also, thanks for your help as we were able to did
find the catchers helmet you wear on e-bay so we bought it for him. He is going
in for minor surgey on his kidney later this month, and I am sure the helmet
will make it a little less painful when he wakes up. Thanks for being such a
great role model for kids, as I coach my kids in Football, Basketball and

I am writing about my upcoming science fair project. My project is to find what the best material is for a baseball bat.I am comparing aluminum, wood, and plastic bats.Me and my dad nailed a guutter to the wall and dropped a ball through it on each of the bats.I want to know what material you think is the best for hitting farthest.I know you and all pros have to use wood bats but if you could use any kind of bat what would you use.I know you are familiar with the Isanti County area and that you sometimes golf at the Purple Hawk. What brand of bat do you use and what is the size and wieght of it.It would be great to put your thoughts on my project which is due May 21st. Thank you, Joe Conrad

for a young lady who is handicapped. She is 23 years old but has the ability of

That day there was a crowd of people hoping for your autograph. Somehow you
chose this young lady. I don't know her, but I want to thank you for you
kindness and helping to make the day special for a mentally challenged young

grandpa played with your grandpa believe it or not, on the west side of St.
Paul. I did a big speech report on you Joe. I got an A for it. I learned a ton
of stuff about you. I was going to go to the diamond awards but I had baseball
of my own. Its more than your play that catches my attention, its how you deal
with everything off the field. Your my hero Joe.
01/30/10 Dan from Boston, MA writes: Joe, I graduated High School in St. Paul (Humboldt) in 1972 and had a history
teacher, Ken Mauer, there who was also the football coach and I was wondering if
you were related to him. I also knew the Athletic Director at Archbishop Brady
HS (W.St. Paul) whose name was Hank Mauer - and I think he was Ken's
brother. I am sure there are tons of Mauers in the state of Minnesota but the
Mauers I am referring to were so linked to sports in the area- I think the son
of one of those guys is a NBA ref. I still follow the Twins from Boston
- and I am enjoying watching your career too. Dan
02/02/10 Shohei from Nagoya, MN writes: Hi! Mr.Mauer. My Name is Shohei. I feel glad that you were chosen as the MVP. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I send this Japanese to such you. ??????? A meaning of these words is a meaning to call "catcher best in history". I think that you are the catcher who already wins through up to the history. I become "the history best" afterward. I pray that I can spend a season without an injury. ????
02/02/10 Michael from Coopersville, MI writes: Congratulations on last years MVP! Even though I live in Michigan, I love to watch you play. I am 10 and I also play catcher in little league. I have always wondered, since you bat left and catch right, are you naturally left or right handed? How did it happen that you play both hands? i am a "pure" lefty, but there are no left handed catchers in pro baseball. Were you a lefty that converted to righty to play catcher? Thanks for taking my question!
02/03/10 Melissa from St. Paul, MN writes: I was a sophomore at Cretin Derham Hall when you were a senior,I occasionally
did locker signs for you for cheerleading and I have to say you are one of the
most kind and down to earth people. Stay your fantastic self!
03/02/10 RCHS from Minnetonka, MN writes: No one will remember how much money you may have made during you
baseball career, even is it sets an all-time record, when you are in
the Cooperstown Hall of Fame. but you will be remembered gretefully
forever if you play out your entire career with the Twins in Minnesota.
02/28/10 Robbie from Boston, MA writes: Hey Joe, if it wouldn't take to long, I want to ask you one question about baseball? Are their any secrets to your hitting success? How do you time the ball well, with getting the right power behind your swing. Also, I noticed that you went to Cretin-Durham Hall. Did you hear they have the best high school football prospect in the country? That's pretty interesting.
02/05/10 Todd from Mt. Pleasant SC writes: You are the BEST! I've been a Twins fan my whole life, and you are by far the
best Twin i've ever seen...and yes I was alive for all the Puckett years...i've
got all his baseball cards and when I graduated from The Citadel I got a ball
signed by him from my now wife...this was really important to me since he had
just passed and he was my childhood hero...Now I just need that one ball signed
by a certain Joe Mauer to complete my collection...hint...hint. haha best
of luck this season and GO TWINS! Keep it up buddy!
02/18/10 Rachel from Hillman, MN writes: Are you going to stay with the Minnesota Twins? I really hope so because I am a

03/05/10 Mandy from Owatonna, MN writes: Dear Joe, I am looking forward to the Twins season!! I can't wait to see
the new stadium. I have especially been looking forward to it since Jan. 24 (the
day the Vikes lost to the Saints). Now I heard there is a rumor going around
that Brett Farve will only come back next year if you agree to a long term Twins
contract. Is that true? If so could you please sign a 10 year contract so that
I could enjoy watching you for the next ten years and I will also get to watch
Brett for the next year. Thanks!! Mandy

02/03/10 Barb from St. Cloud, MN writes: I am one of your biggest fans and I would love to meet you. If I got an

03/12/10 Ian from Woodbury, MN writes: Hey Joe its Ian from Woodbury not
to far from st paul my dads a st paul cop so
How do you learn to hit left and right I get caught with the right
sliders. Why did you start playing catcher and why?
03/13/10 Laurie from Omaha, NE writes: I guess I'm one of the lucky ones
who have met Joe Mauer himself, and going into
the new season I would like to tell my MVP story. Last summer during the
inter-league games in Chicago, I was able to fly to Chicago and go to 2
of the
games at Wrigley. It was awesome! For you hard core fans, I was at the
Friday
game where Milton Bradley of the Cubs threw the 2nd out ball into the
stands by
mistake....Classic. But the best part of the weekend was by far on
Sunday. We
went early to batting practice & watched the players before the
game, we
were close enough to get Joe Nathans autograph on a ball that Jason
Kubel threw
to me. I talked to the pitching coach-Rick Anderson- about Scott Baker
starting
that game. It was Great! But the real Great-ness came after the game. We
lingered in the field because it was the last game & Wrigleys a
great
baseball field & it was a gorgeous day, so when we left we noticed
the Twins
bus and walked over to that area & ran into Matt Tolberts brother
& hung
out with them.Purely luck being in the right place at the right time.
The
players walked right by us as they were loading the bus & we were
saying
"hi" and high-fiving them-unreal. Scott Baker(my favorite pitcher, also a
nice
guy) came over to talk to the group we were with & ended up signing
my ball,
I kidded with him about the pitching coach & I talking about putting
him in
the game. But then the buses were loaded and the 1st one had already
taken off,
and it was time to go & no Joe. So as we said good-bye & started
to get
our things together I turned around & walking down the way towards
us are
not only Joe Mauer-2009 MVP, but right in front of him is Justin
Morneau-former
MVP. So we walked that way-duuhh-& I high fived Justin, but I have
to admit,
I kinda walked past him to meet Joe. I gave him my Twins hat, which I
had saved
since I bought it for Joe to sign, and shook his hand & talked a
little
b-ball...with Joe Mauer. He was not only the most polite, down to earth,
with a
geniune, honest smile person I had met who was "famous". But he was a
"guy" who
was humble & maybe even a little shy or embarassed about the
attention.
Maybe it's the Minnesota upbringing, both my Dad & husband are from
there,
so I know how nice & kind they are. But he deserves it! Look at the
records
he holds already, and he's still young, strong & healthy. It was way
awesome
& my husband who is a former minor league pitcher, had a blast
meeting all
these guys, & really talked baseball with some of them, even Coach
Garde
himself! So there's my Joe Mauer story, which I love to tell it whenever
I can,
especially to little kids because Joes thier role model. We left that
weekend
wih one of our best stories ever, even bigger Twins fans-if that was
possible-& my newly signed hat! So here's to another MVP season
& the
new stadium in Minnesota-I hope you all try to catch a game as soon as
you can.
I know I will :) GO TWINS!!!!
03/16/10 Lucas from Bloomington, MN writes: Joe I'm not sure if it's true or not but in the paper it said your camp turned
down 21 million a year. If this is true I don't beleive you want to stay with
the Twins are you're definately not thinking of the team first. I relaly like
you as a player and think you're awesome but you're not an A Rod type of player
and don't deserve 30 million a year.
03/20/10 Joe from Eagan, MN writes: Joe, thank you for being YOU!! God Bless.
